Rise and shine with the New York Transit Museum! Children with developmental disabilities or those on the autism spectrum and their families are invited to join us in Downtown Brooklyn for a morning of free family fun. Explore the Museum before we open to the public at 10am and participate in special transit-themed activities led by Transit Museum staff.

During our Special Day let’s discover innovative transportation! Author and musician Michael Hearst will share some of his favorite quirky and unusual vehicles from his album and book Unconventional Vehicles: Forty-Five of the Strangest Cars, Trains, Planes, Submersibles, Dirigibles, and Rockets, and sing some original tunes. Then track down transit objects with a Search & Find activity, and design your own innovative vehicle in an art-making workshop. A quiet room will be available for anyone who would like a sensory break.

All ages welcome! Admission to this program is FREE and advance registration is required. After registering you will receive 2 emails: a confirmation email and an email with your e-tickets for the event.

A social narrative will be emailed in advance of the program for your family to learn more about the activities and what to expect during this event.
