Curator Talk: Shining a light on The Subway Sun

Thursday March 6

6:00 PM  –  7:00 PM

The New York Transit Museum’s exhibit, Shining a light on The Subway Sun: The art of Fred G. Cooper and Amelia Opdyke Jones, features rarely seen original artwork by Fred G. Cooper and Amelia Opdyke Jones, aka “Oppy.” Produced for the long-running poster campaign, The Subway Sun (1918-mid-60s), the illustrations created by these two legendary artists instructed riders how to behave in the transit system.

Join museum Curator Jodi Shapiro for a virtual tour through the exhibit with a special focus on Oppy and her achievements.
