Online Exhibit Walkthrough: Building the Bronx

Thursday May 26

5:00 PM  –  6:00 PM

The Bronx holds a unique position within the five boroughs of New York City. Its development and growth both required and was fueled by modernizing transit options that encouraged the transformation of farmland into bustling neighborhoods over multiple waves of urbanization. The story of the Bronx is one of triumph, turmoil, decline, and rebirth. The New York Transit Museum’s new Building the Bronx exhibit tells this expansive story through the lens of public transit with an exploration of objects from the Museum’s collection including archival images, maps, signs and more.

New York Transit Museum Curator Jodi Shapiro will lead a tour of the exhibit via Zoom from the Museum’s location in Grand Central Terminal.
