As cities worldwide have built mass transit systems, they’ve had to grapple with how to translate them into user-friendly maps. More than just navigational tools, transit maps have evolved into cultural touchstones, celebrated for their achievements in design and establishing a visual urban history. In his book Iconic Transit Maps, author and transit historian Mark Ovenden examines 160 years of cartographic design from over fifty cities around the world.

Join Ovenden to discover how enterprising cartographers revolutionized wayfinding and helped shape the visual identities of cities.
