Lunch and Learn with New York Transit Museum Curator Jodi Shapiro: Shining a Light on The Subway Sun
This talk is a supplement to our current exhibit in Brooklyn, showing how the IRT's informational ad campaign, The Subway Sun, evolved from a text-heavy series of posters to a showcase for two artists: Fred G. Cooper and Amelia Opdyke Jones. The talk will have a focus on Opdyke-Jones, a woman working in commercial art at a time where the field was male-dominated.
