The Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) cuddly Cardvaark was invented for a campaign encouraging riders to trade in their tokens for MetroCards. Even though the campaign never launched, the Cardvaark earned a fanbase among some transit enthusiasts. What makes a good mascot—and does transit need one?
