The Moving Image as Public Art

This event is no longer on sale.

Thursday August 24

6:00 PM  –  7:00 PM

Cinema has historically been a collective experience, but today straphangers often view moving image media on personal devices, head down and headphones on. In recent decades, several artists have created a variety of public art installations throughout the transit system to provide additional multimedia experiences while riding public transit. Formats including animation, projection, and screen technologies provide unexpected and shared enchantments that enhance the commute.

Join Annie Dell’Aria, author of The Moving Image as Public Art for an exploration of moving image-based public art in transit systems. She’ll explore the challenges faced in installing these projects as well as the ways they have impacted the commuting experience.
