Pride West Village Walking Tour

This event is no longer on sale.

Thursday June 29

6:00 PM  –  8:00 PM

In honor of Pride Month, the Transit Museum is partnering with Pride Express, an MTA employee resource group to lead a walking tour of the West Village’s transit and LGBTQ+ history. Stops will include significant historic transit sites such as Christopher St./Sheridan Sq Station and the 7th avenue line, and landmarks like the Stonewall Inn, the site of the 1969 key uprising that energized LGBTQ+ activism and launched the annual Pride tradition. Additional stops will honor places and organizations that centered LGBTQ+ cultural life in the neighborhood. As you stroll, you’ll learn how Pride Express has advocated for recognition and resources for the LGBTQ+ community within the MTA, as well as some broader transit history that contributed to the development of the West Village.

Tours run rain or shine. Walking and climbing stairs required. Please dress for the weather as this tour will take place both indoors and outdoors. Masks are encouraged but are not required.

Photography and video recording are permitted. However, tripods, stands, selfie sticks, and external lights may not be used. All photographs taken are for personal use only and permission to photograph may be revoked at any time.
