2019 marks the centennial of the elevated Culver Line, currently the F train line in Brooklyn, which opened in 1919 between Ditmas Avenue and West 8th Street in Coney Island. Join transit historian and CUNY professor Andrew Sparberg on a walking tour to explore the rich and varied history of the Culver Line, with stops at four stations along its route: 9th Avenue, Ditmas Avenue, Kings Highway, and West 8th Street. Learn interesting facts about the elevated surface tracks from 1875 that preceded it, and how the Culver Line got its name.

Walking and climbing stairs required. Please dress for the weather as this tour will take place primarily outdoors.

Photography and video recording are permitted. However, tripods, stands, selfie sticks, and external lights may not be used. All photographs taken are for personal use only and permission to photograph may be revoked at any time.
