Get ready to ride the rails in style! MTA New York City Transit and the New York Transit Museum are bringing out a selection of historic train cars for a special weekend celebration on the BMT Brighton Line. Parade of Trains returns on Saturday, June 7th and Sunday, June 8th, inviting you to hop on and off vintage favorites at the Brighton Beach station (B/Q platforms) and Kings Highway station (Manhattan-bound B/Q platform).

This year's lineup includes the legendary R-1/9s, BMT Standards, and BU Gate Cars—maintained and operated by MTA New York City Transit. Don’t miss your chance to step aboard these time-traveling treasures for just the cost of your subway fare!

Admission is FREE with a MetroCard swipe or OMNY tap!

To help us better plan for the event, advanced registration is encouraged but not required.

Registration enters you into a raffle for a chance to win a Family membership to the Museum (a $100 value)!

Program details and FAQ:

  • Parade of Trains runs rain or shine. Equipment, route, timing, and duration are subject to change.
  • Trains run between Brighton Beach and Kings Highway starting at 11am ET. The last train will board by 3:50pm. Each trip will be approximately 10 minutes and riders can expect wait times between rides. Trains run continuously from Brighton Beach to Kings Highway and back. Passengers may only board at Brighton Beach and Kings Highway. All boarding and exiting trains at Brighton Beach will take place on the interior two platforms. All boarding and exiting trains at Kings Highway will be on the Manhattan-bound platform.
  • Please walk on platforms and stay behind the yellow line. Do not sit directly on the platform.
  • While on the vintage trains, please keep arms inside the train. Walking between train cars during rides is not allowed.
  • The first car of the train is a magical place for everyone. Please consider our youngest visitors and allow children to look out the front window.
  • Help us preserve these vintage cars for future generations! Do not eat or drink while on board and leave all original elements where they belong.
  • Children ages 15 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Photography and video recording are permitted. However, tripods, stands, selfie sticks, and external lights may not be used. All photographs taken are for personal use only and permission to photograph may be revoked at any time.
  • The winner of the raffle will be contacted via email.
  • Accessibility: Kings Highway is an ADA-accessible station with an elevator to the Manhattan-bound platform located on the south side of Kings Highway, west of 16th Street. Please check The MTA App and visit the MTA's Elevator and Escalator Status page before you travel for real-time elevator status information. The elevator for Kings Highway station is located between 15th Street and 16th Street. There is no elevator at the Brighton Beach station. Most but not all of the vintage train cars are wheelchair accessible. The BU Gate Cars, for example, have a significant step up from the platform. Review and download the Parade of Trains social narrative to learn more about what to expect at this popular event.
