Straphangers Lounge and Transit Textiles

Other dates...

6:00 PM  –  8:00 PM

In this hands-on workshop, join fiber artists Karima Sundarji and Sue Hunter to learn how to make your own subway-themed needlework project inspired by their collaborative art project, the Straphangers Lounge.

Sundarji and Hunter began creating handcrafted versions of subway decor after noticing the similarities between New York City subway mosaics and tiled knitting patterns. Their work expanded into recreating an entire subway car and other station motifs through knitting, quilting, and needlepoint techniques. Today, the project travels as a mobile art installation—part gallery, part maker space.

No experience necessary.

Ticket price includes all materials and one drink. Additional drink tickets will be available for a cash-only donation.
